Aggregates Pricing and Quotes

Prices vary by material, quantity and whether you’re collecting or arranging delivery – these FAQs cover the basics.

How much are aggregates per tonne?

Prices vary by material, quantity and whether you’re collecting or ordering delivery. Tell us what you need and we’ll send a quick quote.

How is delivery cost calculated?

Delivery depends on distance, load type (bulk bag, tonne bag or loose), plus site access. We’ll confirm the best option and the earliest available slot.

Can I get aggregates delivered near me quickly?

Often, yes – we deliver across Cheshire with fast turnaround in many areas. If you need it urgently, collection can be the quickest route.

Do you offer bulk bag, tonne bag and loose loads?

Yes – choose bulk bags, tonne bags or loose loads depending on the quantity and your site access.

What do you need to provide a quote?

The material (eg Type 1, MOT, hardcore, 6F2), the quantity or format, your postcode (or collection), and any access notes.

Can I collect aggregates instead of delivery?

Yes – fast collection is available from our site. Contact the team and we’ll confirm availability, loading and what vehicle types we can accommodate.

Aggregates Frequently Asked Questions

We supply a full range of construction and drainage aggregates including MOT Type 1 sub-base, MOT Type 3, washed sands, sharp sand, pipe bedding, gravel and crushed concrete. Our recycled aggregates are produced at our CDE wash plant from clean construction waste, giving you a sustainable, BSI-compliant alternative to primary quarried materials.

MOT Type 1 (granular sub-base) is a graded crushed stone or recycled aggregate used as the structural sub-base under driveways, patios, paths, road repairs, car parks and shed bases. It compacts hard to provide a stable load-bearing layer beneath block paving, asphalt or concrete slabs. We supply MOT Type 1 by the tonne or by the load.

Yes, for the right applications. Our recycled aggregates are produced from clean construction waste washed and graded at our CDE wash plant, then tested to meet the relevant BSI specifications for sub-base, pipe bedding and general fill use. Recycled aggregate typically costs less than primary stone, supports your sustainability reporting, and performs identically in non-structural applications.

Both. For small jobs (driveway repairs, patio sub-base, garden landscaping) we deliver loose by the tonne in tipper or grab lorries. For larger projects (new builds, civils, large drainage schemes) we deliver by the lorry-load with scheduled drops to match your build programme. Bagged aggregate is also available for smaller domestic deliveries.

Sharp sand is coarse, gritty and used for concrete, screeding and laying paving slabs. Building sand (soft sand) is finer and used for mortar in bricklaying. Washed sand is sharp sand that’s been cleaned to remove silt and organic matter, used in concrete and drainage pipe bedding where clean material is essential. We supply all three.

Yes – pipe bedding is one of our specialist products. We supply graded pipe bedding aggregate at our CDE wash plant to a consistent particle size and cleanliness, suitable for drainage, sewer and water main projects. It’s used as the surround material around buried pipes to support, protect and drain around the pipe run.

As a rough guide: one tonne of compacted aggregate covers around 10 square metres at a depth of 50mm. For driveway sub-base at 150mm compacted, you’d need around 3 tonnes per 10 square metres. For exact figures, give us the area and depth and we’ll calculate – it’s much cheaper than over-ordering.

Yes – we deliver across Cheshire, parts of Staffordshire, Shropshire, North Wales and the wider North West. Delivery cost depends on distance and load size. For trade and construction customers we offer scheduled aggregate deliveries to suit your build programme, with account billing available.
